This scholarship is built to uplift high school seniors and college students who carry talent, leadership, and a real commitment to impact through the arts, culture, community service, or academic excellence.

Scholarships

Application Checklist
Required

  • Completed application ( submitted via email ).

  • Official transcript with GPA.

  • Personal essay (500–750 words).

  • Two letters of recommendation (teacher, mentor, employer, or community leader).

  • Community service letter (at least one).

  • Resume (required for undergraduate/graduate applicants).

  • Category-specific materials (portfolio, media sample, service evidence, etc.).

Eligibility Requirements

• Resident of Mobile County or surrounding Gulf Coast communities  
• High school senior or currently enrolled undergraduate student  
• Minimum GPA of 2.75  
• Official transcript required  
• Leadership, community involvement, and commitment to growth

Deadline: March 5, 2026 at 5:00 PM cst
Award Amount: $1,000 per scholarship

Scholarship Categories                     4 Opportunities                                        

1) Southern Soul Legacy Scholarship (Music & Performing Arts)

For students pursuing a degree or career in music, performing arts, or visual arts. Submit a 5-minute video or portfolio showcasing your talent.

4) Distinguished Scholars Award (Academic Excellence)

For high-achieving students demonstrating academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to service. Submit all required materials.

2) Linda Showers Service Award (Community Outreach & Volunteerism)

For students actively involved in community projects, nonprofit work, or volunteer initiatives. Provide evidence of impact and service hours.

4) Distinguished Scholars Award (Academic Excellence)

For high-achieving students demonstrating academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to service. Submit all required materials.

3) Mel Showers Media & Communications Award

For students studying journalism, communications, or digital media. Submit a sample article, video, or campaign related to culture or community.

For high-achieving students demonstrating academic excellence, leadership potential, and commitment to service. Submit all required materials.
